The Old Douglas County Courthouse was constructed in 1956 and was used as the government headquarters until 1998. It was then adapted for reuse by the Douglas County History and Tourism Commission and became The Douglas County Museum of History and Art. Its unique international architectural style qualified it to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
