The Historic Eagle Tavern was built in 1802 and still stands in its original spot. It was a Stage Coach Style Trading Post. People from all over the south visited the tavern for lodging, food and drink. Take a trip back to the 1800s in the restored stagecoach stop. The building has been converted into a historic museum showing what life was like 200 years ago in Oconee County.
The Eagle Tavern is also an attraction for paranormal hunters and the Oconee County Tourism Department hosts Haunted Tours every October. Please call to set up an appointment to explore the haunted parts of the Tavern.
