State Botanical Garden of Georgia

The 313-acre State Botanical Garden of Georgia is home to numerous themed display gardens, including the Flower Garden, the International Garden, the Heritage Garden, the Shade Garden, and more. Come discover these impressive display gardens, nature trails, and conservatory in Athens.

Five miles of nature trails extend into the natural areas. The Alice Hand Callaway Visitor Center & Conservatory contains a collection of tropical and semi-tropical plants, which provide gorgeous backdrops for concerts, lectures and art exhibits. The State Botanical Garden is home to a lovely Day Chapel and serves as the headquarters of the Garden Club of Georgia. A gift shop and gallery are located on the grounds, as well.

Families will enjoy the Alice H. Richards Children's Garden, with plenty of immersive play experiences for all ages: dig for dinosaur bones, look underneath the surface to see what plants look like below the earth, climb above the forest tree line, do the dance of the bumblebee, spin in buttercups, and more.

The newest attraction at the Garden is the Porcelain and Decorative Arts Museum, which features eight different gallery spaces that blend conservation, botanicals, art, beauty and curiosity. The museum is a must-see for all art, history, garden and nature enthusiasts. The museum holds the personal porcelain and decorative arts from Deen Day Sanders. The space will delight anyone who enjoys art and horticulture as well as has interests in environment and conservation. Adjacent to the building is the Discovery and Inspiration Garden where visitors can connect to the living botanical collection that is represented on so many of the porcelain pieces in the museum.
