Rockdale County's Black Shoals Park at Randy Poynter Lake is located in north Rockdale and includes areas for picnicking, hiking, and a 650-acre reservoir. Randy Poynter Lake is a great place for fishing, boating and canoeing. A fishing pier, bank fishing and a boat ramp are available, as well as a picnic pavilion. Randy Poynter Lake serves as the community's drinking water reservoir, therefore, no swimming or gasoline motors are allowed. Electric, sail, row, or man-powered boats are the only vessels allowed. All boats must be off the water at least 30 minutes before the park's closing.

Retreat House: There is also a newly built facility rental with a playground and nearby trailhead walking path.

The park is open 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. in summer and 7 a.m.-7 p.m. in winter. Closed on Wednesdays. Check the website for current hours of operation.
