Visit Hahira, Ga., for the 32nd Annual Honeybee Festival, featuring arts, crafts, gospel singers, a 5-K run, a century bike ride, a dog show and a parade. The parade is touted as the "Best in Georgia."
Monday Sept. 30 - Kick-off Breakfast 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. It is being held at the Community Center on Randall St., and everyone is invited.
Tuesday Oct. 1 - Senior Walk 8 a.m. It starts at the Community Center, and everyone is welcome.
Wednesday Oct. 2 - Community Reception 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. It is being held at the Community Center, and everyone is welcome.
Friday Oct. 4 - A variety of food, arts and crafts will be showcased 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. downtown. There will be a Gospel Sing starting at 6:30 p.m. behind the Red Caboose.
Saturday Oct. 5 - 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Events, arts and crafts, and food concessions are scheduled throughout the day. The 5K (3.1-mile) run and century (100-mile) bike ride start at 8 a.m. The dog show begins at 10 a.m. Cloggers and other entertainment will perform all day. There also will be a Kids Zone with inflatables, a train ride, live pony rides, mountain climb and carousel.
Parade start time is 12 p.m. Saturday. This is one of the largest parades in South Georgia. We have one of the largest high school bands in Georgia from Lowndes High School, The Georgia Bridgmen, floats of all kinds, local beauty queens, city officials, our senior citizens, state officials, lots of Shriners and much more.
