Vidalia Onion Festival
- Friday Night Street Dance & Fireworks: $5.00
Each spring, food lovers across the nation anticipate the harvest of Georgia's Official State Vegetable, the famous Vidalia Onion. The Vidalia community celebrates the occasion with a 4-day festival that's packed with activities for everyone. The Vidalia Onion Festival has won numerous awards over its 40 year history.
The fun starts before the festival officially begins with the Miss Vidalia Onion Pageant, the Vidalia Onion Culinary Extravaganza, and the Carnival. The festival weekend kicks off with a children’s parade and a Movie Under the Stars on Thursday evening downtown. Friday features sidewalk sales in the downtown Historic District during the day and the Official Opening Ceremonies, street dance and fireworks Friday night.
The excitement builds on Saturday with the Kiwanis Onion Run, the Arts & Crafts Festival with the famous Onion Eating Contest, Onion Recipe Contest and public tasting, carnival, and 2019 concert headliner Randy Houser. But this is only a taste! Come to Vidalia to experience the "whole onion."
