In its heyday, the Piedmont Hotel was an imposing three story building with 36 rooms in two wings with a connecting hallway which contained a lobby and ballroom. General James Longstreet and Robert E. Lee opened the hotel in 1876.
Alta Vista is owned and operated by the City of Gainesville. It is a historic cemetery that has been in continuous operation since its establishment over 150 years ago.
