Savannah Ghost Tours
Travelers flock to Savannah, one of the most haunted cities in the United States, for Halloween. Visit Savannah has curated a list of the eight spookiest ghost tours in the city, including tours by trolley, on foot, and in an actual hearse, where you can learn about the most bone-chilling stories in Savannah's history.
The Savannah Underground, one of the newest attractions in the city, places guests front and center on a 360-degree set immersed in some of Savannah's darkest tales, reenacted right before your eyes. You can add an immersive trolley ride before the show, which gives you a glimpse into the city's troubled past and doubles as a ghost hunting bootcamp.
Want to sleep in a haunted hotel while you're in town? Book a room at The Marshall House, which opened in 1851 and has had more than a few guests report seeing ghosts in the hallways, hearing strange noises and having unexplainable experiences.
Milledgeville Ghost Tours
Milledgeville, founded in 1804, has a rich history that comes with a side of spooky sightings. The city’s historic district is known for ghostly encounters at places like Memory Hill Cemetery and the infamous Homestead House (shown above). Year-round, you can join Roswell Ghost Tours and Decatur Ghost Tours, both led by actual paranormal investigators, and Marietta Ghost Tours, a lantern-led walk and a compelling blend of history, storytelling, and the supernatural and paranormal.
Covington Ghost Tours
Covington, which has been featured in dozens of movies and TV shows like The Vampire Diaries, offers multiple walking tours around the town, many of which have been investigated by experts from The Atlantic Paranormal Society. Real and official Covington Ghost Tours are led by experienced ghost guides.
Americus Ghost Tours
The Windsor Hotel in Americus, Georgia (est. 1892) offers a 45-minute guided tour highlighting a tragedy that led to the death of a woman and her young daughter. The tour visits areas of the hotel that are not open to the public. Reservations are required, and tours are given by appointment only.
After your tour, why not stay the night? Guests of the hotel can sometimes hear a child’s footsteps and see the reflection of a woman in a mirror. Book a room at The Windsor Hotel and see if you have your own ghost encounter.
